Poverty Truth Manifestos

At the invitation of Deputy Council Leader (and Poverty Truth Commissioner) Lucinda Yeadon, our last full gathering took place in the Leeds City Council chamber. In this space, where decisions that shape life in Leeds are made, we decided to do some creative imaginings about what our Manifestos would be for tackling poverty in our city.

These were quick-play 3-point Manifestos, drawn up in small groups of 4 or 5 Commissioners in the space of 20 minutes, and presented back to the rest of the group in the Council chamber. In the coming weeks and months we hope to merge these ideas together into a Leeds Poverty Truth Manifesto for what this Commission would like to see happen in Leeds. We’ll be sharing a picture of each group and their Manifestos in separate blog posts over the next couple of weeks.

What do you think should feature in a People’s Poverty Truth Manifesto? (let us know in the comments below)….
